I reckon it's your Idler Arm bushes broken up. Mine is the same, just gotta do the job on mine, probably next week. Other than that could be the Pitman arm or the steering box itself (although they are pretty strong).

I could be suspension but I think it would need to be pretty bad to cause that effect.

    Cheers

Have you checked the steering damper,or maybe it's the alcohol.

it was ok till i took my 16" wheels off & put my original 15" back on.

also the front end is sitting high with no sag at the back end.

Did you tighten the wheel nuts correctly???

          Worth a look.

Also you say it now sits high - has one of your dampers broken (come apart) allowing the front to go to full extension? This could also make it drive all over the place.

          Rich.

My drivers side outer cv joint has sprayed grease all over my inner wing how would this contribute to the shopping trolley steering effect

The CV could have $hit in it, our grey truck did this last week, the CV was locking up as I drove around, pulling the steering the left every revolution of the wheel.

Only did it with lots of junk in the back, and the CV was running at a high angle, at normal angles it was OK, boot was ripped and CV full of Devils Pit junk, I squirted oil over the CV and its OK for now.

Once the CV is dirty, it'll be fubbarred in the long run. but a regrease and new gaiter will suffice for now.

Going to be doing my Idler Arm bushes on Thursday (plus rear brake shoes and new glowplugs). Thats if it doesn't snow - I'm getting to old to lie on the ground when it's wet and cold, think I need to get myself a garage thats big enough to fit a Surf in.

                            Cheers
