  • 3ltr into 2.4? Ommegawd

I have just discovered this site. The guy is trying to create a bible of all things mechanical on any of the Surfs.

There are pictures on there of what is required to drop the 3lt engine into a 2.4. I suddenly feel sooooo happy and contented with my 2.4.....

Thats nothing, I've been following a Toyota 3.4 V6 into a 2nd gen in the states, much more fun.

If he hadn't drunk so much beer he would have gone out and bought a new truck!

If life's an uphill struggle then downhill from now on can't be that bad?!

Nah, thats nowhere near enough beer to be tackling a job like that. There's probably a crate in the boot.

            2.4 To 3.0litre

            Hi Folks,
lts not just the engine to be changed here is a list of some of the problems l have come across changing 2 "2.4" to "3.0litre".

            1/ Gearbox
            2/ Radiator
3/ Exhaust Front pipe at least if not the whole exhaust
4/ Water pipes to rear heater
            5/ Power steering pipes
            6/ Air con pump
            7/ E C U has to changed
8/ The Complete under bonnet wiring loom is needed
9/ Most if not all the behind the dash wiring loom needed
10/ Engine mounts on Chassis have to be moved
11/ Vaccum pipes have to altered "made longer"

l think it would be fair to say you would need a complete front end of a write off 3.0ltre to do the job.
