  • Rear-mounted spare rattle

    Hi,

the rear-mounted spare on my 96 third gen makes an annoying rattle when I hit even a minor pothole in the road.

Is this common?? Any handy quick-fixes??

    Cheers,

    Ash.

The bushes in the hinges wear and cause the rattling, but you might be able to quieten them by packing with grease.

Does the arm have the rubber bushes that press against the door when it's closed like on the 2nd gen? If so, they may need adjusting too.

do you get 2 clicks when you shut the carrier slowly? mine rattled cos it didnt shut properly (due to tree jumping into the back of me!) but a big bit of wood, me and TonyN fixed that!
