    Afternoon all

Throwing myself on your mercy on summat that's bugging me.

Washed the truck last weekend and noticed that both the front tyres (Kuhmo venture AT's been on the truck for about 15000.00 miles, same as the rears) are wearing on the inside edge.

TRACKING I thought, so off to the local ATS commercial (they have kit big enough to fit the wheels) - chappie checked tracking and it's "within tolerances".

Now I'm confused - truck drives terrific, no vibration, no wandering no pulling to either side so, question is; WHAT'S CAUSING THE TYRES TO SCRUB??????

anyone any ideas - they are stil OK for the test next month but want to get it sorted

    cheers

The first thing you need to do is get a full alignment check done, not just tracking. If the camber is incorrect it can easily cause this type of uneven wear pattern

as above but also concider swaping the wheels corner to corner, evens the wear before they get illegal because of 1 edge
Did I mention I have a BLUE one

Same prob here mate. Just been sorting tracking and swapping tyres today, but still need to get this sorted. As I understand, its the camber that needs tweeking, which isn't checked with the tracking. Swapped the tyres front to back to try allow enough rubber to last till I get it sorted.

Same here, so the thing to do is get a alignment or is it some thing else?

cheers guys, off to the alignment checking place thingy (assume rapid fit type tyre places would have the kit) - anyone got any recomendation of somewhere not too far away.

Also does anyone have the tech specs for what the correct alignment should be (standard set up for a 3rd gen)

            thanks for the help again

They should have the correct figures in their database already, either listed as a surf or 4Runner, but make sure they select the KZN185 (ie 3rd Gen) variant.

I'd double check that they can do the camber and castor etc and haven't given you a price for tracking only. That's sounds a bit cheap, esp. considering it takes about an hour to do the whole lot. Around here, nearly all garages can do tracking, but only 2 I know of can do the full alignment.

At £18 i would say for defo that that is for the tracking only.

They won't do camber and caster for £18.

The tracking may be ok, mine is the same, found a guy to do camber/caster, and he found that one of my track rods and my steering idler were excesively worn, and will need to be replaced before the wheel alignment can be sorted.
