  • Rear sagging of Surf

    HI all,
I am having noticing a lot of Surfs with slight tendency to rear sagging. My own Surf is sagging a bit from heavy loading after a trip in Africa. I have looked at various options to lift it a bit, but have no idea if this is going to help significantly or just last for another couple of months. I have looked at the "usual", for example, Old Man Emu and also the original parts from Rough Trax. Has anyone got any good advice for rear suspension that will be able to withstand heavy duty use with heavy loads?
    thanks

Due to your location, I assume our suppliers over here wouldn't be an option for you? Getting uprated strength springs will bring the rear back upto scratch, and also give it more resilience to sagging under load. The ones I would usually recommend are the Milner uprated Surf springs, or Land Cruiser springs if you wish to add an extra 2" to 3" onto the rear height.

      Rear sagging of Surf

      HI and thanks..
sorry for the late reply...was out in the bush for a while.
I know about uprated springs, but the Milner product, how many kgs are they rated at per side? Does the Landcruiser models fit the Surf as well...that may be a good option...
      cheers

a few of us have fitted the l/c hdj8o springs that give 3" of lift on the rear so you will need to get new shocks also

I put +20% standard height rear springs on mine a few months back and recently put 120kg of sand in the back and it didn't even notice, apart from being less "firm" over the bumps, so I'm pretty pleased with them.
          Got them from Milners.

I`ve been searching for and have been unable to find any details about fitting the 20% springs from milners.

Has anyone bookmarked this as i am almost certain that i remember reading up on this once upon a time with detailed instructions and piccies.

Oh, and the milners springs are not "handed", so they will fit on either side of the surf.
