Help please on how to adjust front wheel bearings

Hi All.
Failed MOT today on excessive play on frontwheel bearings. I have checked forum for any advice on how to do this, But couldn't find anything. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks Gonzo. Info is useful but as I'm a mechanical dummy i need step by step instructions. once again Appreciate the help.
