It should pull off if the handbrake has been released.

there are 2 threaded holes in the drum that allow you to push the drum off, if its stuck. but i cant remember what size they are.. (smacking the drum with a mallet helps as well..)

Well I never! Haven't had the need to remove my rear drums........yet.


Most likely an 8mm threaded holes then, they usually are.




Reversing the vehicle prior to jacking up and removing wheel will help release the rear brake shoes too. (providing the handbrake isn't applied)

Yep - M8. Clean the holes out well before trying to use them - good squirt of WD40 does the job.

if it aint to late get h/t bolts the last thing you need is a brake drum half off and a broken bolt it can happen if them drums are a bitch

It isn't too late and cheers for the info Gaz, however I suspect that the bearing has gone south. I took the wheel off and turned the drum, I could feel the rumbling through the drum, it was very notchy (or is that knotchy?)

Whilst under there I greased all the nipples I could find, the front front UJ took absolute loads.... oooops!

I'll go out tomorrow and buy some HT M8 bolts and have a look at both drums, 'cos you never know!

Don't forget to back off the brake adjuster before attempting to use the bolts. If the drum is a little worn a lip will form on the edge and catch the pads.
