Checked the fluid again today and the level is where it should be so it doesn't need topping up (even tho I went and bought some), and the colour seems fine also, I'm getting a little concerned now about the wheels taking a while to engage, not convinced it hasn't been driven in 4WD on the road.

The problem seems to be getting worse now, even tho it is an auto gearbox, is there still a clutch in it and could the clutch be slipping, if it is slipping could this be the cause of excessive fuel usage. I only seem to get about 100 miles out of 30 quid in the tank.

Maybe the torque converter is faulty. It acts similar to a clutch by transfering drive from the engine to the gearbox.

Would this cause the wheels to take a while before they engage...it only does this after it has been driven for a while
