HI CAN ANY BODY TELL ME HOW HARD IT IS TO SWOP THE BACK U J ON MY 3 LT SURF AND HOW IT FITS IN

  • #2
It's not difficult but the main thing is to mark up the propshaft flanges and the UJ parts to make sure you put it back together in the same way, otherwise you can screw up the balance.

The UJ's are held in by circlips on the inside of the joints. Release all these then you should be able to remove the originals (knock through from one side to expose the bearing cap, then once that's off knock it back the other way to remove the opposite one, then do the same with the other two bearings) If they're knackered the roller bearings will probably fall out. Once refitted grease up the joints through the grease nipple but don't over grease the sliding joint at the front as you can lock it with too much grease.

Should only take about an hour or so if only doing one end, about two hours for both.
