  • Yet another rear window

    Hi All

Had my surf for 3 years now, but new to this site. Problem with rear windscreen is the bonded (?) grooves at the bottom of the window that the regulator wheels run in. They are so corroded that bits have dropped off. I'm sure I saw in one of the forums about getting these bits from a toyota saloon - something like a starlet maybe? But now I simply can't find it again..... Typical....

Any advice greatfully received - Cheers

Same year, Toyota Corrola, MR2 and Celicas have the same window motors. (passenger side.)

Thanks for this, but it's not the motor I'm after (motor and regulator replaced with new last year) it's the runner guides. Maybe I read the message wrong, but it did seem to indicate that these runners could be replaced. Failing that I'll have to look for a s/h rear screen with the guides already in-situ. Emergency repair currently 2 wooden props keeping window in the fully up position.

I think he's referring to the roller guide on the bottom of the glass itself that the
          nylon rollers sit in.

As far as I know, that part is bonded to the bottom of the rear glass. I would have
thought it will mean a full glass replacement.

                    phone your local toyota dealer
i got new runners from then a year or so ago

pull old ones off glass and push new ones on,
bit fiddly to get the rollers into them though

cost under 20 quid for the pair from the dealer
no need to get new window!!!
                    Landcruiser Colorado
                    Sub. Forester

Andy's right, part numbers are 69907-35920 and 69907-35010, slightly different for each side. (I have a a pair sitting here on the desk!) They wern't that expensive.

Hey - Thanks Andy and Tony for the lifesaver info. I don't think I could manage without being able to open the tailgate much longer. I'm looking up the number for my local main dealer now........
