  • 3rd gen bullbar how attach

Just got a 2nd hand bull bar for my 3rd gen.
But how the hell does it attach ?
    Are there brackets ?
I only have the bar itself.
Attached are the pics of the front of the chassis it any one can point me the right way .
    Cheers

Attaches on the bolts that attach the front tie down hook on the drivers side and there are holes on the passenger side to match. You will need bolts for that side though unless there are already bolts in place.

    Cheers

    Edit.

Sorry thats on a 2nd Gen but I presume they must be in a similar place. Best thing to do is offer up the bull bar in the place it looks like it should go (should be reasonably obvious) and see what is around there.

Ummm is this the problem ?
Do the towing eyes have to come off and a bracket is needed to replace ?
If anyone has a pic of there bullbar fitting it would be great.

Sorry on mine I have a hook bolted to the front of the drivers side main chassis rail at the front and this comes off and you bolt the bull bar direct to the hook mounting points and then the hook on top of this.

Not sure on the 3rd Gen as I never had a look under one.

        Cheers

(don't quote me as i have no bull bar!)
hook is off side, eye is near side

          edit:
just realised how rusty my chassis is getting!

We're talking about a standard toyota A bar aren't we? Just checking....

That towing eye/bracket comes off. You should have a larger bracket that goes on there, with the eye lower down on it. The A-bar itself bolts to the top half of this larger bracket. I imagine the bracket you need is still attached the Surf that the bar came from. You could try to do a bracket swap with the guy you got the bar from..?

Here some pics, hope they help.

Dabigman yours are the same as mine by the looks so beware if you get a Bullbar.
Rob thanks for the pics looks like that is what I need.

You can see the difference in the 2.
