front wheel bearings

I recently read on an ozzy surf web site about how to re -pack the front wheel bearings with grease. Is there an advantage to re-packing as opposed to replacing with new, after all, they are not that expensive. I would think changing for new would be best and just as easy but am i missing something? I am a bit of a novice so would it be very difficult to change the bearings? Thank you.

the front wheeel bearings are of a tapered shape so by checking and repacking with grease they just need adjusting from time to time. There is no need to replace the unit unless the are damaged of cause!!!
