brake problems

  • brake problems

    have surf ssr-x 2.4TD. have brake prob, when it si not running pedal is solid(good i think) but when running foot on brakes solid half way down and slowly sinks to the floor(not good i think). no visable leaks on brakes, pipes or any other visable parts + fluid dont seem to drop
    any help or tips would be gr8
    if its messy i'll give it ago

    possibly need fluid changing

      had new front pads new fluid today , back shoes fine. still problem
      if its messy i'll give it ago

        air still in the system possibly then.

        i was always told when bleeding the brakes to do the one farthest from the resavoir first then work back to the closest.Probably nothing to do with the prob you got but you never know

          You may have worn master cylinder seals . I would recommend a new master cylinder .

              get the master cylinder from an 80 series land cruiser... and the adapter plate.. and fit that instead....

                  I have been looking at this for quite some time...

                  And all I have been able to find, is an adapter plate, and the master cylinder... hopefully I'm not missing anything... but that looks like all it is...

                  MarlinCrawler do it... (but don't appear to want to answer email) I suppose you could get the part from Toyota... I still haven't got round to finding the part number... (will do when things quieten down)... and make the plate up.

                  To all intents and puposes, its a Series 80 master cylinder... straight on the original gubbins... Roberts your aunties brother.

                  Got to do mine soon, the mores stuff I put in, the less efficient the brakes are...
