  • Snapped bolt removal...

Can anyone tell me the best way to get a snapped air-con tensioner bolt out please? It's snapped flush with the threaded hole and I can't seem to get anything at it!

Plaease help, it's too hot to live without air-con!!

Very surprised nobody helping this lad !

Based on your brief description, I would think the simplest pro method would be to (in order) :-
Spray penetrating oil onto broken stud -leave quite a while.
Have available an "easyout" or stud extractor smaller than the inside diameter ie well less than thread dimension to avoid damage.
After drilling about 10 to 12 millemetres into broken stud fit extractor.
From local plumbers merchant get an aerosol can of "pipe freeze" and squirt this directly at drilled out bolt....Without delay reverse bolt out with the stud extractor / easyout.

Hmmm, dunno! I'll have a look later.

BTW, how long is that bolt? Is there a need for it to be that long??

well i did make a new one and it was shorter so no not realy..

to gain access to the little block u need to work from the front of the truck u will need a socket and extension bar on a rachet just undo it, then the the block and snapped bolt will just come away...then u may be able to get some moll gripps round the bolt and remove it.. wen putting a new bolt in though u may need to run a m8 tap trough it so you can put a standed m8 type bolt in there, think the japs threads are finer..

actualy you are supposed to release this said bolt a few threads before trying to undo the long bolt it is this bolt that locks off the long adjuster. but you prob did wot i did and didnt undo it hey presto snapp!!!! i like making work for my self
