Auto box erratic and speedo

Any clues on why my Hilux surf Auto Box is all over the place together with the speedo that thinks its a windscreen wiper.
Some days its fine then stuck in gear till i pull over switch it off wait abit then shes fine till it happens again it becoming more regular.

Have checked fluid,

every electric lead going to it cleaned and reconnected.

Had dash off to see if speedo had come loose but alas no cable but a little black box which is connected to the plug in loom with two wires guessing its the converter ,IS this knackered and where can i get one .

Any clues please

Auto box prob could be ecu. If all else fails, try and swop with a good one (If you can find one)

They have caused probs with autos on some surfs!

You know... a mate of mine had this EXACT same problem with the auto box in his Mondeo ST220. He had the ECU fault log cleared, and the ECU reset and the fault went away. Just a thought.

I assume the auto box has its own ECU, and doesn't share the engine ECU? I s'pose disconnecting the batteries for half an hour would reset em all anyway?

The KZN130 auto shares the transmission functions with the main ECU
(found in the kick panel by the passengers feet!)
