Disconnect the wire from sensor to gauge and do a continuity check to see if there is a break in wire or replace with another piece of wiring to test.

      Hi Lee,

I am just outside Chester-le-Street. I have seen lots of Surfs around but only a couple of people use the forum. I saw a 94 surf at team valley the other day, was it you?

      Phil.

        Lee,

I also meant to mention that you seem to be doing the right things to find your fault but where were you shorting the guage out?

        Phil.

might be a fault on the circuit on the back of the clocks, the wires plug in the bottom and theres a foil screwed to the back i should have a look at that

Hello Lee,Mick here(Micky B).I live in Lemington,Newcastle.I've probably seen you out and about.Mines a J-reg 2.4 SSR-X in dark red metallic with red arches instead of the gray, and a couple of battle scars. You can't miss it,it's got SURF plastered down the sides in gold.Toot if you see me,and if it's not me,I'm sure they will be glad of the attention!
As for your oil guage problem,I had a similar thing with mine after the facia been changed from km/h to mph.The bloke I bought it off had done it and not refitted the multi-plugs on the back of the clocks properly.Might be worth a look.
              Happy hunting---Mick.
You can take my 4x4 from me when you prize the keys from my cold, dead hand.
