  • drive wind up

A friend was taking a turn at the wheel of my surf last weekend and i forgot to watch that he took it out of 4wd when we got on some (very dry) tarmac. I realised though when i heard a squeak from a tire after we'd u turned in the road. Retraced the u turn in reverse and it disengaged reluctantly and all seems fine. Can i assume that if everything works I've got away with it or is there anything i should check?

    cheers

Its OK, you'll only break something like a CV if you give it lots of welly on full lock. Otherwise the tyres just scuff like you found out.

It it broke something you'll have noticed.

besides reversing, you can always lift the wheels of the ground and see if they sping as they unwind the gearing!
