  • Jack and axle stand advice needed

I'm fed up with my toy town 2ton cheapy jack and axle stands, hardly gets the wheels off the ground so you can guess the fun i had replacing my rear coils yesterday it was a bricks and wood blocks job and bunging anything else i could under there in case that should fail, and i still had to go get some coil compressors, not good, guess this low end stuff is for normal cars, so i'm thinking i need some better gear

    I found this - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=020110311

It's rated at 2 tonnes but has a max saddle height of 800mm for £130

    And these axle stands http://www.ccw-tools.co.uk/catalogue...1437&cat_id=29
with a max height of 758mm for £56

Is that the best i can do for that price range? That jack seems cheap for the height, is Clarke stuff ok?

      I have this one...http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product...5&r=2047&g=107

It lifts plenty high enough, but it needs a longer handle really.Plus it can be stored in the truck.

The hydraulic doohdah has gone in my 2 tonne trolley jack since I have been abusing it by lifting the Surf. There is a guy on eBlag doing 3-5 tonne bottle jacks and axles stands at a reasonable price.
One of our neighbours emigrated and gave me his commercial axle stands. Another neighbour has given up home servicing and given me another pair of commercials. Now I can put all four under and imagine I have a big lift.
        It's only a hobby!

          he he

I can't decide if i want to spend more buying another one that isn't going to do all the jobs, changing the coils would have been easy with 750mm stands under the chassis. oh i don't know..... should be getting married this year, better spend my money on these things now before it gets considerably harder....
