  • Toyota recall notice ???

I recieved an email the other day regarding a recall of Hilux based
4x4's with underslung spare tyres, and that the cables have been breaking. I got a bit uneasy when the thought of following a Surf
down the M27 at 70+ when the spare falls off.

So I contacted a local Toyota dealer and they have heard nothing,
they contacted Toyota U.K. and they know nothing either, has
anybody heard anything about a recall in the U.K. or abroad.

put the spare in the boot or on the roof!... problem solved!
plus a bit better ground clearance!
and it's a bit of a rust trap around the spare.
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

Spare ain't on a cable its held up by a b####y big chain and that ain't snapping and never heard of one having done so.

Toyota UK wouldn't know anyway cause they are as much use as a chocolate teapot, sorry don't do Surf's in this country

One falling out would be a miracle! 8 out of 10 1990 and older spare wheels never come out again as the mech rusts solid!

Probably a few people havn't wound it up all the way. Never heard of one thats fallen out myself.

the recall that i`ve heard of is for the 100 series cruiser/lexus 470, they are replacing the cable with,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,you guessed it a chain! so the next time you are behind a lexus 470 don`t follow too close or it might fart and smash your grill with its spare tyre!
