Lifter Pump sucking

More problems running like s**t agin

Thought i had a faulty lifter pump as the top was sucked right down, when driving so put a brand new one on it ran fine for a few days now its doing the same so i guess it must be a blocked pipe somewhere also presure in the tank sometimes but even if i leave the fuel cap off its still the same any ideas from all you surf nuts

Sounds like the tank breather could be blocked.

Pressure in the tank is usual but not vaccum . As Tony says could be the breather on tank if a vaccum . The breather lets air in but not out . My Runner tank is always got pressure in it when I take cap off to fill up as do many cars I have had before . Could be a blocked pick up strainer in the tank .

Is this the pipe with the white thing near the tank and can i just bypass it (the white thing)with a pipe. This as cost over £900 now and its doing me head in.
Ask toyota if there was a fuel filter in the tank or near the tank and they siad there was not but i would of thought there was.

I would say it was pressure it gives out what i would say a puff when i take the cap off but ther agin not to sure how would i tell

Have you changed the fuel filter? Is there any water that needs draining from the bottom of the filter housing?

Yes fuel filter is new

Vaccum normally gives a thud as the tank re gains shape from collapsing. Minis used to do it , the tanks can go in quite a lot before the engine stops !And the cap is hard to remove (stuck on by vaccum)

Steve, just been reading your previous posts regarding your diesel mechanic mate by-passing the fuel plunger/filter and fitting an in-line filter. Have you tried this method again, as you said the truck ran fine when he did this?

Yes with a pipe but not with the in line filter and it went ok for a few miles then back to the same also the gears now seem odd like when pulling away theres a jolt as if it not in gear then it jumps in

Have you checked wether you have any fault codes showing?
If not, disconnect your batteries for 20 mins to reset the ECU.

Got 1 today but have not looked yet will have a look in the morn but i bet its fault code 12 again

Fault code 12 yet again, Iv reconected the pump, blow down the return pipe
drove about 2 miles and all seems well off to do a job later about 5 miles away so will let you know how it goes.
