  • Can anyone recommend a service place nr Reading?

    Hi,

Having just got an engine swap (thanks Stevo!) I need to get my 500 mile service to validate the warranty. Can anyone recommend a place near Reading / Henley?

    Cheers,
    tamper

having just bought a surf with no service history I thought it would be a good idea to have it fully serviced. im aiming to get it done next week some time so fingers crossed...

... i called both of these places this afternoon. the guy who answered the phone at frog didnt know much, and they quoted me a fairly high price. as i need a full on service im looking at 5hrs for the service itself and 2.5 hours for the cam/timing belt apparently. all in I was looking at 5/600 + VAT with frog.

then i called newbury and the guy I spoke to was much more knowledgeable. he said that he does jap cars and he didnt think frog did... apparently they are more land rovers etc. he also said around 4 hours for the service and 2 for the belts. much better prices too... 360 + VAT all in (or thereabouts I think...)

so im gonna go for newbury!
I got me a new Surf baby yeah!

hmmm.... just had a look under the hood and the aircon belt is missing

                        grrr....

well, I'm guessing it's not going to be as simple as putting on a new belt! me thinks something must be wrong elsewhere, hence no belt. hopefully you can have a look at it at the weekend anyway?
