Has anyone got an American style tow bar on their 3rd gen? One with a 2" square receiver and a detachable tow ball. I like the look of them and the fact that you can detach the tow ball. The tow ball are available in different drops as well to suit lifts, different trailers etc

    Hi
I have one on the front, and its a godsend for launching boats etc. also because it is a receiver you can put a winch bracket or anything on the front.

Never seen one for the back though

been hunting one of these for ages, they arn't UK approved, so no one will sell them, and are heavy so shipping from the states is more than the bar itself.

These are great for offroading, nice and high without the hitch in, plus different attachments make them really useful.

I have one fitted on the back. I was given it for nothing by someone who had kept it in a shed for when they bought a surf but never did! I had a towball bracket made but got a locking bolt from a firm in Portsmouth. With the towball removed (ie during the winter months) you hardly notice the bar.

I am having a computer drama at the moment but will post some photo's later in the week when I have formatted and installed XP.

                    Tony,

Have you seen my page about my US hitch?

I thought shipping was actually quite reasonable in the end (£60), see here:
