  • Tracking Problems

I have a 3.0 SSRX which is scrubbing the inside of the front tyres. It has done this since purchased two years ago. It also pulls to the lhs when driving and braking. Does anyone know the tracking specs for the SSRX as the tracking specialists dont know due to it being an import and also Toyota UK dont want to know? Any technical spec or help is greatly appreciated.

Tell them to look for a 4Runner, same year as yours. They are the same. Setting the aligment not an easy job, as when you set the caster, it moves the camber as well, you have to dial them in a little at a time, not just set the camber, then set the caster and call it good, cos you will have moved the original camber setting, as well as moving the toe in-out spec every time you move one of the cams.

Where we take our trucks (Micheldever Tyres) it normally takes 3/4 of an hour or so for the guy to sort it out.

Toyota can do it, the 4Runner was a UK car, or a good aligment place. It needs checking every couple of years, as it seems to drift out sometimes.

I think I've posted the setting up on here in the past, so do a search for them as well.

I had my 3.0 3GEN done today, rear wheel puncture repaired and balanced, front wheels ballanced and four wheel lazer aligned cost about £70 at ATS EuroMaster in Hornchurch. They had all the settings for 4runners and hilux 4x4, and I noticed they can also get brake pads (both types) as well.

                        Alignment

I had slight problem with shuddering and after twice having wheels balanced and alignment done which only helped a bit, i swapped front wheels to back and car runs like a Jaguar now. I also had new tyres on front.

Most places will charge about £30 to check and do minor adjustments. Once you start messing the caster and camber it takes a while to set up properly therefore a bit more money.

If someone does the whole thing in less than 20 minutes its probably not done right!
