Ray
Hi,
I did once take a diesel fuel pump (from a previa) apart when I had a repairshop of my own (1990 - 2004 )...and could only get the two O ring seals in quick time for the owner - he was booked on a ferry out of Rosyth... Not an easy task if you are not specialisin in diesel pump maintenace... they are a lot differnt from the usual robert bosch pumps, or lucas (cav) etc.. BTW I succeeded and it cured the leak...But later discovered there was major internal wear of a component and some spring needed replaced, it was done via a spares part exchange deal.. So, unless you have experience and used to working with small parts AND can retain the vehicle's timing.....Get someone else.IMHO
i jet washed the whole area took off the n/side fr wheel even bought a new posh little torch,i cant see the bleeding leak i think its over to the pro`s the only prob is that anyone within spitting distance dont want to touch the efi type pumps. i have a no. of a friend who services his surf so i will give him a go first,i`ll keep you posted

When i got back off of the floor the cost was............ approx 1 day at £40 per hour to remove and refit pump(14hr days)
£400-500 for the pump rebuild + possible replacement of the spill valve(whats that??) @ £180ish all plus vat of course.
Looks like a future without surf.
any ideas? is there a recon pump place that may be cheaper if i remove and refit the pump my self? failing that any one got some matches???

Try Wade deisels in Hoddesdon, they are good with Surfs, Leaks in the top cover are pretty easy to sort, I've done a couple for people now.

ive just ordered a new seal kit to the pump from a 92 2.4 surf. on inspectin this was not leaking from the top cover but somewhere underneath or as close to the engine block as possible so you cant view it from the top nor anywhere else it does however leak when cold and stops once warm so it looks like those seals are gone.
it'll be a slow progress but ill do a full photoshoot for those interested.
hope to help
