Spare Wheel Carrier - The Return

I have been unable to see another Surf with a non-rattleing carrier.
Can anyone tell me if the hole in the rear door where the locating pin (bent bit of metal with the rubber bush) fits has a liner or if its just metal to metal?
If its just metal its not really surprising it rattles.
Has anyone cured this rattle (and still kept the wheel on the carrier)? How? Is the rubber bush available anywhere?
