Well I have been on leave for a few days now and it was time some of the wiring in the ``Grey Ghost`` was tidied up. Some of you may be aware just how much wiring has been added to the wagon over the last two years.
I have added a new head light loom which is now positivly switched instead of negative. I have yet to do a night drive to see the difference so time will tell. It is piece of mind to know that I have brand new cabling, very heavy at, that for the lights.
Another new system is the ability to bypass the glow plugs which is useful for warm starts when the plugs are not needed. It just reduces the load on the batteries during start-up
I have also fitted an overide to my auto electric fan system so that on start-up when hot the fan usually kicks in just when I want max cranking power , I can now pause that process while the starter sucks all the power it needs and then the system goes back to where it was. Again it just reduces the load on the batteries start-up.
I have also fitted a new power outlet at the rear in my locker area with a 3-way outlet 1.= Live, 2 = Accessory / Ign ( engine on ) 3 = Auxillary power ( the rear mounted jump start pack )
The new blue LED ‘boy racer’ lights on the dash are very cool too. !!
To achieve much of the wiring upgrade I had the front seats out which was a good opportunity to clean under them and I can assure you they needed it !! It was filthy under there, and I’ll not even mention some of the things I found.
So all in all after a 2-1/2 day ‘Refit’ the ``Ghost`` is all clean and ready to go, with power going even more places and more switches in 'The cockpit' !!
