front tow bar this is what i did-

first off removed the recovery hook and used the holes on the hook to mark out the holes on the angle keeping the first hole approx 20 mm from the end (as per diagram). then drilled out the holes to ( if i remember right) 12 mm.
you will need to make two of these (as per diagram) making sure that the holes are done on diffrent sides of each angle so when fitted the angles will turn to the front wheels.

then offer up a piece of angle to the recovey hook side putting the hook on top of the angle, then bolt through the hook and the angle ( you may require new longer bolts for this as the original ones are a little short.

then move to the other side of the bash plate and you will see two holes in the same position as the first side. there may be bolts in these hole, if not you will need a new set. offer the angle up to the holes and bolt through..

you will now be ready for your main 50 x 50 box section.
offer this up inbetween the two angles being carfull not to block off the air con rad air intake, you will now need to tack weld the box to the angle.(you may need to drill an hole in to the underneath of the box section to allow you to get a set of moll grips in to each side to clamp the box to the angle this can be filled in with weld at a later date)

once this is done tack weld the the last 50 x 50 box to the main box keeping an eye on any obstuctions that this may meet.. eg- bull bars-plates-a bars-etc. then you will need to un- bolt the angles from the chassis taking care not to brake the tack welds.

you can now get better acces to the tow bar so you can double or triple weld all joints and finally fit the tow ball plate and tow ball.

if you want to make your tow bar in to a receiver bar so that you can remove the tow ball so that it will not be seen when not in use or to fit other items, then you will need a length of 40 x 40 box section as this will slide in and out of the 50 box perfect.
then all you need to do is drill an hole through the both box sections and fit a pin to allow easy removal. ( ive not done this as i have no need to fit any other items to the front of the truck.....YET!!!!...)

then paint or spray the tow bar with a primer. i used hammerite black smooth then leave to harden for a few days or so

once this is done you can refit the tow bar to the chassis.

then refit any obstructions you may have taken off, some of these may need modifiing........

    job done...............

this project didnt cost me anything as i had access to all the materials at that time. if you were to buy steel from stockholders i dont think it would run up much of a bill......

    ***please note ***

all the above info and size,s is true to the best of my knowledge.
however i can not be responsible for any damage to you your vehicle or other equipment while either fitting or using the tow bar. under no circumstances should this tow bar be used on a public highway........

No, my very first reply wasn't, but it wasn't correct either!

Look at the time of day of the posts, it explains a lot.

            Front Tow ball

Check the following link. I have put a US style reciever hitch on the front of my rig. It is a 2" square box, and I can put anything in it.
