Any ideas what this does?

When I did an oil change the other day I found the tubing for this wire was perished, i thought it might be the gear selector but its not... any ideas what its for?

Its the bit Im shining the torch on in the first pic, the oil filter bracket is at the top right of the pic.

If that's the wire that goes to the oil pressure switch then mine was the same.It was a rubber compound and crumbled when touched.I replaced with a bit of vacuum hose to protect the wire where it clamps to bracket.
