    huh? wasn't paying attention.......

Yeah, your right about the end one, did you measure the end float, the outer one normally wears as well. Would hate to do have to do the job twice, better to replace them both while your in there.

you've gone and said it now! just wait for it to be noisy next time you drive it

sounds like me telling Rick "its going well" when he fixed my water pump.

Finally got the bushes from Toyota. Part numbers T90381-30003 for the larger @ £22.02 each and T90381-30006 for the smaller @ £10.14 each (plus VAT of course !!).

They appear to be plain brass although the machining is quite complex with spiral oilways in the bore and also across the flange so would be quite tricky to make without a CNC setup.

Did you do the job yourself? I haven't found a description of how to do this on the site. Will the drive shaft drop out and give access to both bushes with the axle etc still on the vehicle?

Have both sides been done, or is it just the off side?

I'm gonna jump in here and say I have the exact same problem - sounds just like hitting a manhole cover when going over bumps on the road, seems to be coming from the nearside only and is only heard when window is open.

I guess its these bronze bushes that are needed.

Where would i find detailed instructions on fitting them - i am not a mechanic and have never dismantled a wheel before, but i'm keen to learn!

Also i'm a bit puzzled as some of you seem to replace both inner/outer bushes and some say its just the inners that matter - whats necessary, and what is the likely outcome if i don't do anything to the car?
