On the search engine - I agree with Phil, I use it regularly but there are so many posts on every topic now that you get pages of replies to each search and it is often hard to find what you want. We should try to improve the FAQ section with some more of the common questions.

How about if you see a thread that should be in FAQ PM Koi, Lucky or TonyN to make it FAQ??

Oh yeah - be nice to newbies!!!

Be aware though that it can have a detrimental affect on the seals in your pump. I started with a 33% mix and within 2 weeks had fuel leaking out of the top cover of my pump. This ISN'T a major problem as you can get a seal kit from Milners for about £8 and changing the top seal takes about 30minutes (just don't drive around too much with it leaking unless you really dislike motorcyclists!) but something to be aware of. Now if you start using Biodiesel (not to be confused with straight veg oil) you shouldn't have this problem.

      Hope this helps

err, Biodiesel is a more aggressive substance than veg-oil and will attack natural rubber seals found in older vehicles (generally older than our surfs), by comparison veggie is relatively benign. Veggie can however have a mild detergent effect and loosen dirt and sludge from the tank, or less commonly the lines, this is why a fuel filter change is recommended prior to initial use and also to have another new one on standby.

If your seals began to leak shortly after using veggie, I would suggest that it is most likely due to the fact that they had already suffered some deterioration and were likely to leak at around this point anyway. I think its unlikely that the mix of veggie caused or accelerated this process. Even though Biodiesel itself can be mildly aggressive I doubt if if would have caused such problems either.

One caveat, this is all of course assuming its new veggie thats referred to, as used as WVO is acidic and can cause difficulties, it should not be used without prior treatment as previously discussed on prior threads.
