I've posted before about the grindy tinkly noise from the front of the truck.... thought I'd investigate today. BAD MOVE !

Loosened the 5 std nuts, no probs, snapped off the locking one.....

Had a nose around... looks loke a bu**ered bearing on the drivers side.

Quick look at milners, Inner bearing £15, outer £9.50....wheel stud £1.50 !

Anyone know if the bearings are a pair of inners / outers or each ? I'd ideally like to get a full set and dump the whole lot on a local guy who's fairly cheap.....

Two bearings in each hub, you aught to do both in the hub while the hub is off.

Our 4Runner was like this when we bought it, I tightened the bearings up and 3 years later its still OK.

but as you've got to bet the hub off to get the stud out, it won't hurt to do them.

    Its easy.

Recently did the bearings and brakes on my 2.4.Here in OZ I got 2 kits which include inner/outer bearings and cones as well as seal and new locking washer.$130.00.

Check the brakes while it is in pieces.Loose bearing on mine damaged inner pad and had to machine disc because of scoring. Also replaced seals in calipers.

One inner and one outer on each side. Good advice from Neville - get a new tab washer for each side and also probably worth buying the nuts as well (2 per side) - people tend to adjust them with a chisel (no one on this forum I'm sure ) and replacements only cost pennies.
