restricted 100kmh ?

just picked up my new surf (well new second hand)
its a 1991 2.4 ssrx ltd .
its a joy to drive but totaly refuses to go over 60mph/100kmh?
gets there fine and just wont go any further.
could it be restricted ? also it only has one battery when most others have two.

anybody have any ideas

SOunds like it is in Low ratio. Make sure the selector is in H2, put gearstick in neutral before moving.

sure it's not a truck??
mines got 1 battery and does 100mph so it's not that...
some have a bell that rings over a certain speed... maybe it's linked to that somewhere??
check you have od on as this will stop it going into "top" mine only does just over 80 with od off (3litre)
