    Hi,
    I’m not a happy bunny ; pulled out of my drive went to select second a got a very nasty grating noise and little or no drive. The problem effects all gears but the clutch feels fine and gears select as normal, I tried 4wd but no change. The car is now un drivable –had to be towed to the local garage, as long as it’s not the clutch I’m covered by my warranty. Has anyone had anything similar happen? Suggestions as to what it might be? Know where I can get a replacement manual gearbox (is it the same as 2.4?)or transfer box if necessary (is the transfer the same as auto 2.4??)

    Had a similar prob with mine, but i would drive in 4wd. It was my rear diff that gave up on me. If yours wont drive in 4wd then points to gear or transfer box.
    Keep us posted as to what the garage finds out.

      When you say your getting little or no drive, do you mean it revs up but doesn't go anywhere like the clutch slipping or a stripped gear in the 'box, or won't rev as if something is jammed or siezed?

        It happens with the R150 gearbox that a synchro can stick into the gear and not release when meant to. Thats why I pulled out my R150 - coz 2nd gear synchro had done just that. In neutral the truck edged fwd. Gear selection was difficult, in fact too difficult.

        Its a repairable problem, just means getting a gear specialist to do it. My R150 is in bits in my shed waiting until I'm a specialist. Meantime I've a gearbox from a 2nd gen '86 hilux (G52) and its a gift.

          Looks like it's the dual mass flywheel thats broken up, new clutch and flywheel etc due from Millners today so hopefuly by tommorow I'll know for sure. Thanks for the suggestions just in case would a G52 swap with a 151 like mine as well as the 150?
