Did mine last year and without goin out and checking (coz it aint there) the alternator shares the same 2 belts. You need to release the tension in the alternator by 1st loosening the long bottom bolt which the alternator pivots on. When this is loose you can unto the tensioner. We're talking about a bolt maybe a 12mm and about 3 or 4 inches long which when turned, it pushes the alternator away from the other 2 pulleys which the belts turn on thereby tightening the belts.

Did the belts just come off over the fan then? ..... cant remember

Will it occur to you that you probably should have got at the aircon belt and PAS belt while you were at it? ..... probably

Is it goin to be easy? ...... yes, the next time

There is also a lock bolt on the front side of the alternator adjuster slider which is also also 12mm. You need to loosen his first before doing the adjuster bolt.

I think you will need to remove all the belts first to get the alternator ones off as these are the ones nearest the engine. First one is the Air conditioner belt - that is removed by undoing the adjuster from underneath on the idler - again this is similar to the alternator with an adjuster bolt and a lock bolt (actually the bolt that holds on the idler pulley), then you can pull this one off over the fan. Next is the power steering belt - loosen the pivot bolts and slider bolts on the pump itself and move he pump, then remove the belt over the fan.

Lastly do the two alternator belts.

          Refit in the reverse order.

          Cheers
