Diesel knock

Since having new head fitted i have found that when starting from cold i have increased dieselknock, but once engine is warm this goes away just wanted to know if this would cause any problems other than this the cart runs like a dream.

mine did the same when i changed the head and ran fine for a while then one day! all let lose engine check light on and knock was very loud sounded like a transit van maybe a bit worse it was a code 12. does your engine check light come on when you turn the key and go off when started? if so thats just telling you that its working if it comes on when engine running then you need to check it out i have heard of some cars that have had the light disabled to hide faults. then again it could just be paranoia setting in as i though when i first heard mine. guess i was just unlucky

No everything is fine apart from the knock when i start when warm everthing is ok

MINE IS DOING EXACTLY THE SAME,ALSO BLACK SMOKE ON START WHICH WHEN ENGINE WARM IS OK.IF YOU FIND OUT THE CAUSE PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT karste@giles053.freeserve.co.u k

Could be timing is one tooth out, this will cause knock or as Lucky found out it could be a loose tappet shim.
