Just done my rear springs

  • Just done my rear springs

    Just finished doing my rear springs .It took me 2 1/2 hours which i dont think is too bad for a first time( would have been quicker but bt man turned up and distracted me).

    I found the driver side was a bit more(lets say challenging) the the other.

    I too some pics as i went through and some before and after pics i hope this helps someone else.

        Cheers guys!! Theres still a bit to do yet before i get her dirty.
        I think the front bearings are on their way out ,so im gonna change them too.

          Would I be able to change (well, have somebody else change for me) the springs on my Surf to SOFTEN the ride? (See 'back ache' post 21.1.05) Any advice? - Julia

            Spring Compressors

            Useful pictures as this is a job I am planning.
            Not clear if you used spring compressors or not? seems to be two trains of thoughts on these. From some recent posts it seems that using them is not without problems, i.e. getting them off the removed spring. I would have to go and buy/hire these so do not want to do this if alternate methods work.
            Some posts have indicated that you can jack the body away from the axle instead of using compressors?
