  • extra tank?

been thinking of putting an extra fuel tank in my surf 2.4td, right where the under slung spare tyre goes, lots of room, any one tried it?

NWOR offer a tank that fits above the underslung spare tyre.

If they would ever respond to a request for a shipping quote...

I had an extra fuel tank custom made for me to sit in the spare wheel well of my VW golf. Replaced the full size spare with a space saver which sat over the top of the tank with the filler through the middle of the space saver. It was quite an unusual design but these guys made me a baffled tank to my design out of aluminuim for £95.

You might want to have a look on the aussie forum, as one of the guys there put a nissan patrol tank in place of the underslung spare.

Apparently, Wide Land cruisers came with an option of 90 Litre sill tanks... Scouring the EPC for details of those. Although 90L seems a little steep... you could get all the bits to match it in...

(Mentioned in Sahara Overland by Chris Scott)

Now that would be cool... except when it came to fill it all up. 6months later... you'd have forgotten how to do it...

How about these - I fancied this too, but by god it looks like a big job...

                  thanx

thanx to you all, I was thinking of just thick hose from drain plug to drain plug, and a breather in the top of copper brake pipe above the main filler kneck, which would fill (slowly) from the main tank and also drain.
                  wadya think?

For mine it would cost about £1400 + vat (installed)

but my mate owns the company so I did some of the work myself and cut the costs down. To it an injection system to mine we had to take all the inlet manifold off to get to the injectors!!
                    NO WORRIES!
