The air con belt can be retensioned. Loosen the bottom bolt that runs parallel to the engine block, then tighten the horizontal bolt that is at right angles to the engine near the top.If it is slipping it may need replacing. To check if it is already tight enough twist the belt 90 degrees mid way between two of the pulleys. There should be some resistance.
Also remove the belt completely (once you ahve loosened it) and check the magnetic clutch for play on the main spindle of the aircon compressor...
Too tight on the belt and this will wear... A new magnetic clutch will not solve this... its a new spindle and probably a rebuild of the compressor... bearings, etc... not a pleasant job and one I am currently contemplating.
