oil pressure, what oil pressure?

hi can anybody help,

i have got a 93 4 runner (3litre TD) and although the oil light goes out the oil pressure guage shows not a lot and its engine now appears to be noisy

since i noticed i havnt run it which kind of makes diagnosis difficult

ive heard it may be the oil pick up or a knackered pump and hopefully not bearings

bearing in mind the pain in the a*se to even drop the sump has anybody experienced anything similar or got any ideas as to where i might begin

when was oil last changed ??
i,m assuming you have physically checked oil level ??
not just watch oil light go out ??was this a gradual drop in pressure,or from
one use to the next, it dropped ??
