  • Extend seat rail?

    Hi there,

being 6'7", I found when test driving a Surf that I'd like to be able to put the seat back further. Anybody have any experience on extending the rails or shifting them back a bit?

    Cheers
    Nick

I hevn't extended them back however I did raise the passenger seat one up. Involved removing the seat, drilling out the spot welds that attach the runners to the brackets and refixing them to a piece of 1 inch square tube then rewelding the brackets back on.

I think you would have to do something similar - use a longer piece of 1 inch square tube to make a longer piece for the barckets to fix on. You could then weld the seat runners back to this maybe 3 or 4 inches further back.

Because of the shape of the brackets and how they mount to the floor, you can't just move them and the seat completely back, you would need to leave the brackets in the same place but fix the runners to the brackets further back, the 1 inch tube may enable you to do this. You will need to be handy with a welder though.

    Cheers
