  • Over filling with oil?

Does anyone know if overfilling my 3.0L with oil would cause problems? I did the service about 3 weeks ago and there about 1/2" over the full mark on the dipstick. Now I've got a good oil leak (can't see where it's coming from yet)- the car has never leaked oil in the three years I've owned it.

Should I just drain off the excess and see what happens or has 'the damage been done'?

Contrary to beleif over filling can also wreck engines as well as leaving it to get too low

by dipping the crank in and out of the oil aeriating it and giving you foamy oil, but 1/2" isn't too bad (BTW check your oil filter seal is not the cause of your leak.)
