Wont Fit...

I wondered if anyone could give any guidence / advice on fitting the A Bar to my 94 surf, it an ac003 from rough trax.. Fitting this should be simple...

But the instructions that came with it are none existent.. (4 dodgy looking pics)

Ive sussed how it all goes together now, remove toe eye etc but for some reason the unit does not line up at all, either the large bolts at the base are in or the top grill brack mounts... but neither together...

Anyone any pics or drawings?...

Not 100% sure on this but methinks somebody else had the same problem. I seem to remember that they needed some spacers/extention brackets. I'd take a piccy of mine but it's a 2nd Gen.

Are there 2 sets of brackets as 1 set are for the hilux & 1 set for surf ? I used the original bolts that hold towing eyes on as well. I will take some pics tomorrow afternoon if you need them.

Well mine only came with one set of brackets and yes i did have to take the towing eyes off...

Anyway today i left the truck and bar with LDV simmons for them to sort out as the have the contract for sorting all the Armys vehicles (landies mainly).

got back just now and even they carnt make it fit, spent 2 hours on it, the started to make brackets but it was costing loads... £45 per hour and 5 hours to sort!!..

Rough trax said look at the pics.. and i did.. and so did simmons...

Still no joy..


Anyway a very nice man has been real kind and took the time and trouble to take pics of the same bar fitted to the same surf (NorthWestDirt paul)

And after looking at all his pics and indepth diagrams im fitting it right and it should fit... or so it looks...

Just carnt get the top bracket to go in and have enough to line up the bottom one, its top or bottom brackets but not both at the same time..

Paul, text me tommorow if you get 5 mins mate, and i will drive down and meet you if poss..

After seeing all those pics and meeting up with Paul (northwestdirt) i can see the problems now.

1stly i had the brackets on surf sticking out too much, (the instructions are useless to say the least, there is none!!.

2ndly The small stabilizer bracket show in the previous picture is different to mine, pauls version had two "kinks" in in and mine only had one hence the inability to line it all up..

The instructions need sorting for this bar, for the novice like me it was a nightmare, the chassis has several holes to bolt the bar in and the manual?! was just an exploded diagram of the bar without the bit on how to fit it to the truck!!

Ahh well happy now its on.. Major thanks to Paul off here for taking photos and taking the time to meet me and help out, i owe you a beer.

He had some smart bits on his surf that gave me more modding idea's..

So what mods do you have in mind? I was wondering if anyone had looked into NOS?...
