  • Rear demister not working

Just done the usual 1/4ly service on the rear window and tested the demister to see if it was working , there was no reading across the terminals with a voltmeter ,after switching on the switch . I then checked the fuse behind the kick panel this was also okay , both terminals are a snug fit . Any suggestions why it is not working?

It's the wires that connect on to rear screen. They have probably broken a couple of inches down from the terminals, because of the up and down action of the rear window. This happened to mine.

If it is the wires that are broken further down do you think that it is possible to repair them?

          Yep.
I had to strip mine back about three to four inches and there was still enough slack to connect them back up. If yours are not long enough, just solder or crimp some new wire on.

On mine the connectors had simply come off, so it could just be that, se here for some details if you need it:

              Just an idea.......

My heated window cables broke inside the insulation causing the window to stop working. I put some new insulated connectors on them and jointed then through.
              Now it's fine.

ALSO................. From the connections, I used a length of flex to connect from the connectors back to the window. So when the window goes up and down, the flex moves and not the cores in the single cables.
