  • installing stereo advice req'd

I'm gonna swap out the crappy cassette player that came with the car, and put a JVC unit in.

I've checked every link i could find to see how to install on a 3rd Gen - almost everyone i've seen was for 2nd Gen - eventually think i've found the correct solution BUT.....

does anyone know what the aerial connection is like?

my stereo takes a male plug about 1 or so long...but i have seen some cars with a slightly different connection fixed to the aerial ...so i want to be sure that i have all the bits before dismantling the car.

if its just the aerial thats the problem, halfords do a couple of bits that change the aerial end from a male to a female, and another that has a right angle in it that is male to male (i think).
I have never had a problem when installing a aftermarket stereo buy the harness and have some method of getting to halfords (I know they are more expensive but they also tend to stock everything for I.C.E. systems as boy racers think that makes their car go faster). but they will help if you need some extra aerial bit etc.
    Good luck.

its not that its a problem...i just wondered if anyone could tell me what connection to expect on the aerial cable BEFORE i dismantle the dashboard.

I've got the iso conversion block, and i just was hoping someone could tell me if toyota have a standard fitting and what it is?

        3rd Gen radio swop

        Hi
I recently changed the radio/cd unit in my 3rd Gen. I replaced a Japanese spec Sony for a UK spec unit. The aerial plugs were standard male units.
For advice/pics on getting at the radio see

        http://www.yotasurf.co.uk/forums/sho...=3rd+gen+radio

if you haven't already found it.

        Cheers
        Keith
