Full time electric windows

Hi there
Has anyone altered their wiring to allow side and rear windows to be opened without the key?
What't the best approach to achieving this?

BRENT. Welcome to the FORUM mate, This is a new one to me but some of the other guys may be able to help you out on this one later.

Haven't done this myself however if you look at the wiring diagram you will find where the feed comes from and just take a new feed from a source not controlled by the key. You may find that it is simply a case of changing the feed to the lockout switch in the door armrest - that isolates the windows so it may also be where the main feed is switched through.

An alternative is that the windows work for a while with the key out but the door open - there might be some way of utilising this using the door switch.

Had a wee play

In the armrest switches.
The only live feed was for the central locking, but when i hooked into that and fed it to the window lockout switch, the window switckes operated the c.locking! Using this method worked on my old Jeep. Might just have to run a new feed or perhaps change it at the fuse box.
I dont know about you guys, but i find it a pita to have to put the key in to just open or close a window! Maybe im just lazy!!

You can always open the drivers door as long as it hasn't been opened before - you get a one shot to enable you to shut the windows once the key is removed.

Alternatively you will need to find the window relay which I think is located in the driver's footwell and find the switched live feed and replace it with a permanent live.
