  • Overdrive wiring

    Hi all,

Kindly a previous owner replaced my gear stick (auto) with an aluminium monstrosity that doesn't have an overdrive button.

I've looked all over and can't find any other button wired in to do the job. I've also searched the forum and can't find anything about wiring in another overdrive button - can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Thanks

    James

Probably easier to replace with original knob. If you remove the tunnel trim you'll probably find a pair of cut wires or a disconnected plug (long thin clear plastic one I think). You can wire a switch into it there.

I have now swapped the gear nob back to standard - much better

I have also re-connected the wires & the original shifter button now turns the light on on the dash

Sadly it doesn't engage the actual overdrive though Aghh!

I have been under the truck & disconnected the three pin connector on the side of the gearbox, and shifted manually through the gears and the overdrive is working this way. 70MPH @ 2700RPM. With connector re-connected it does 70MPH @ 3500RPM

So, unless its the solenoids, it looks like its the ECU??

Any other tests i can do to check the solenoids?
