faulty central locking

Hi Im new to the forum and this is my first post, I have a problem with the central locking on my surf kn130 1993, all doors unlock all but only drivers door will lock when I use the key or door switch inside, the key stopped working first soon followed by the switch soon after, I've read that there has been been wiring issues, is there any chance the central locking unit in the drivers door could be faulty as this is an easier job to replace than stripping all the wiring back, do any forum members have experience with this problem. Thanks

Probably just a broken wire where the door opens.
