  • Stereo wiring loom

Aaaarghhhh ! my thread has gone. And all the replies with it.

Sorry... I have to repeat everything.

    OK
    I have fitted a new head unit - a single CD player/radio.

When I play the radio, sound comes out of all four speakers and it fades front-back left-right.

When I play a CD it will only come out of the front speakers?????

I checked the wiring and there are eight wires on the head unit loom:
Front left White front right grey
Rear left green rear right purple

On the Surf wiring loom is a yellow and black and a red and white.
Also there is a black/white stripe wire which is doing nothing at the moment. These are on a seperate plug.

All the other wires (including the front speaker wires) are on the bigger plug.

What I cant understand is why the radio works fine but playing a CD does not?
It all worked perfectly in my Laguna.

          Thanks Keith... all ok now.

For anyone else fitting a UK radio, the lead to convert the Toyota plugs to the ISO std is available at Halfrauds Part No PC2-17-4
This plugs straight in and works without modification (in most cases)
It was £11.99 but you may get one cheaper elsewhere.

            Hi keith

Some one with answers I like the sound of this. Maybe you could help me to, I have the same problem only I have used the halfords ISO plug. The radio works through all for but the cd changer only works through the fronts, I presumed it was a problem with the disc changer but maybe you can shed some light on the matter, the head unit is an MDX something or other. Any help would be appreiciated.

            Cheers

Cheers keith all sorted. Its simple when you know how, just had to chop the one wire on the iso loom and attatch a bullet connector, heh presto rear speakers work.

                      Alright Keith

Been trying to work out how to get my rears working - could you forward me the information on the bullet connector mentioned above?

That would make 3 happy surfers
