  • tailgate window goes down randomly

returned to car tonight & tailgate window wide open,
would not close from switch, but closed using key.
    relay intermittent clicking.
driven 10 miles home & window opened twice.

need a quick fix as have long journey tomorrow.

any advice where & which fuse to remove to kill power to rear window relay.

    thanks
    Robert

If you don't need to use the tailgate then take the carpet section off and then the metal panel under that and wedge a bit of wood inside ti stop the window opening. The main relay is behind the plastic panel in the boot area on the passenger side.It does sound a bit like the relay is playing up.I may have one here still from an old breaker but can't look till weekend

Short in the centre consol switch? (drink spilt on it?)

To stop it opening in the meantime, close the window, climb into the cargo area and pull off the carpeted panel, remove the crosshead screws and remove the metal panel and unplug the motor's electrical connection.

        thanks for replies

if I remove plug from motor ( to stop window operating ) will it also stop the relay clicking.

or can you identify which fuse to remove

        robert.

I don't think there is a seperate fuse for the rear window only.

Is the window lock button pressed in on the driver's door armrest?
If it is, the centre consol switch won't work. (neither will the other windows via there own switches.

            EDIT:
There is a 30a circuit breaker above the cabin fusebox.

disconnected motor at plug, relay still clicking.

had a look above fuse box in kick panel as suggested, found a large brown relay
about 4 inch wide which was unplugged, so reconnected. I know it's nothing to do with windows. any idea what it may be.

                            happy to report.

reconnected wiring today & buzzing relay now operating properly.
                            possible cause water ingress/damp

thanks for all help & offers of parts
