  • Surf Batteries

    Guys,

Would like to know if this two batteries need to be identical in specification? please help.

As far as I know the factory setup runs the two batteries in parallel.
Anyone can jump in and correct me here.
If that is the case then "identical" batteries would be a plus.
I run a split system where one battery is for normal use and the second can be linked in for cold starting or high electrical loading.
There are more batteries in "The Grey Ghost" but I'll not bore you with those systems.

      New batteries NOT Identical

Just before I went on holiday for two weeks, I had noticed when starting the engine from cold, that the started seemed a bit sluggish.
On return from holiday I had a feeling it would not start, the turn of the key was just a click from the starter motor, off to Halfrauds to buy the two batteries needed, not forgetting that the batteries are left and right handed, no luck at Halfrauds.
Went to Jayar components/Ajay components, they had them in stock
Made by "starting bull" with a 4 year warranty and costing £45.27 each not bad at all I thought.

Halfrauds do list them, they are in the little book under 4Runner, but at a silly price.

Thats not a bad price, I was quoted about that at a proper car shop, but then I sent Linda into the shop and she got them for £35 each after waving cash and flutting her eyelids at them.
